FAQs
How long will I need to come?
How many sessions you or your young person attends will be worked out together with you and the therapist. With young people it is often helpful to commit to 6 sessions initially and then review how things are going. All session plans are based on individual needs.
How much will it cost?
We understand that cost is a big factor in accessing help and try and keep our rates low so that we are accessible to as many people as possible.
Can I get Medicare rebate?
Art Psychotherapy is not currently covered under the Medicare rebate scheme.
Our rates reflect this and are designed to be affordable.
Is Art Psychotherapy covered under health insurance?
Yes it may be included if you have extras cover. We recommend contacting your insurer to check. As a PACFA registered Art Psychotherapist we have a provider number for around 12 major insurers. Please get in touch for more information.
Do I have to be good at art?
No not at all. Art Psychotherapy is not about creating artwork that looks a certain way. It is about expressing feelings and telling a story through the artwork. There is no expectation to produce artwork that looks ‘good’ or to have any prior artistic skill. We also don’t teach art.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes we do!
What happens if I need to cancel an appointment?
Appointments can be cancelled at no charge with 24 hours notice (this is based on business hours). If you have an appointment at 10am on Monday morning, you would need to cancel by 10am on Friday morning. We understand that sometimes things happen at short notice and if we can offer the appointment to someone else you will not be charged.
